Alloy Polymers, Inc. Reports the Death of Founder and CEOMay 24, 2007Richmond, VA—Alloy Polymers, Inc. announced today the passing of its founder, chairman and CEO, Subhash Pahuja, an icon in the compounding community for more than 25 years. "Subhash was a pillar in the industry and within our organization. We are deeply saddened by his passing. But his passion and zest for Alloy and always striving to deliver services beyond expectations will be carried on. It’s part of who we are and the foundation he has built," says Charles Chiappone, Alloy Polymers’ president and chief operating officer. Alloy Polymers began as an internal unit of precious metal supplier INCO LTD in New Jersey. Pahuja, who worked there, took over the business in 1982 and refocused on compounding and engineering plastics and moved to Richmond, Va. in 1987. Under Pahuja’s leadership Alloy Polymers has seen steady, profitable growth over the years, building on the success of the Richmond facility and Pahuja’s passion for a business he loved. Four years ago, the company purchased a 150-million-pound-a-year polypropylene facility in Gahanna, Ohio. Last year, the company added a 175 million-pound-a-year compounding facility in Crockett, Texas, boosting total capacity to about 400 million pounds per year. In 2006, Pahuja completed his vision for Alloy Polymers, Inc. and started the transition of leadership to the next generation of leaders, turning the day-to-day operations over to Chiappone, a veteran business manager at both SPX and GE corporations. Many people throughout the industry have noticed Pahuja’s success. Recognitions include the Commonwealth of Virginia Entrepreneur of the Year award, U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award for Outstanding Achievement and the 2004 Chemical Entrepreneur of the Year award by the business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. In 2005, Alloy Polymers ranked No. 21 in the Indian American Center for Political Awareness list of the top 100 companies in the U.S. run by Indian Americans. Pahuja’s wife of 34 years, Kamini, will assume the role of company chairman. Donations in Pahuja’s memory may be made to the 5P Foundation ( 8713 Butterfield Ave. Richmond, Va. 23229). All monies collected will go either to Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, VA or to support the Blood Disorders Center in Faridabad, India. |
